Rattlesnake Hill is an exciting four-piece Bluegrass band consisting of Ed Schaeffer on lead vocals and guitar, Jack Sanbower on 5-string banjo and vocals, Dave Goldman on fiddle and bassist Carolyn Kellock.
They perform traditional bluegrass music with a contemporary flair and blend gorgeous and soulful instrumental work with tight two part vocal harmonies. They also add in some traditional-style songs from the golden era of country music, played with traditional acoustic instruments. Their years of experience as professional musicians have provided them with a treasure-trove of dozens of songs, enabling them to quickly respond to requests and capture the attention of even the most discriminating audience.
The band was a regular cast member on the Appalachian Jubilee syndicated radio program for six years and has produced 8 albums, including the critically acclaimed, "19th Century Man" and "Carl Nelson With Rattlesnake Hill."
Anchored by the highly creative playing of Jack Sanbower-- widely acclaimed as one of the top five-string banjo players in the country-- the high Energy fiddle playing of Dave Goldman, the incredible steady timing of Carolyn Kellock, and the stellar lead voice and rhythm guitar playing of Ed Schaeffer, Rattlesnake Hill provides a high-energy, foot-stomping show that goes well beyond any standard bluegrass show you've ever seen.
These four artists step across the footlights at every show to connect with the audience. Consequently, they are quickly becoming one of the most popular Bluegrass bands in the Baltimore-Washington-Frederick area and one of the most respected groups in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The band is available for club dates, concerts, festivals, corporate openings, community shows, weddings and private parties.
